Those don't fit without a lift kit do they?

Oh that’s my cruiser wheel, i took it off to check my brakes. 33s would no   way fit the gx without a lift. They for an 80 series no lift though

My first TJ had 31s but had a hockey puck body lift for them to fit.

My second TJ had 35s but had a real 4 inch lift for them to fit.

I say be different and go with SMALLER tires... with whitewalls...

Back when a Wrangler with 31s was enough.

Squeeze 33s under a stock Tacoma, or just stick with 32s...? Decisions, decisions... Not doing a lift ( any time soon, anyway).

did you size up to 32s already? i know the 2nd gens can handle 33s without offset wheels and a lift, can the 3rds? looks great though

I’m still on OEM rubber. I think 33s are possible with a little melting/forming/trimming (skinnies will fit without it) . Question is how much benefit does that half inch of sidewall & clearance give you?

So the stockers are 30.6 inch tires (265/70r16) , not 32 so...a lot of difference. here is a good walkthrough of this trucks life from stock tire/height.

Kinja'd!!!

To 31.6 (265/75r16) - these are about the biggest tire you can fit stock. He had a 2 inch lift at this point though.

Kinja'd!!!

To 22.8 (285/75r17) This required new wheels with a 50 mm offset (to clear the suspension) , and significant trimming to avo id rubbing.

Kinja'd!!!

I can tell you the 33's look HUGE on his truck compared to the stock setup, its night and day.

Looks great, and adds significant capability. If I can make it happen w/o a lift (parking garage constricted...), I think I’m going to have to do it.

going from stock to 33s will net you 1.1 inch height bump. don’t know how close you are now... i couldn’t put 35s on my truck and still fit in my garage with my rack on

An inch is probably all I can get away with (maybe 2" if I’m really careful, but I really don’t want to risk it) . The signs say 6'1".

How are those tires? Buying my first set for a 97 Anniversary Edition FJ80 in Texas . Having trouble deciding .

I like them on my 97 40th.  They seem to wander a bit though, steering doesn’t track super straight but they are quiet and do great in all the environments I’ve tried them in except sticky mud...but thats to be expected.
